Skincare essentials

Winter means one thing, an excuse to buy more skincare to fight the dreaded dry skin!

I think I say the same thing at the end of every month but I can’t believe it’s over. I am so excited because December is my favourite month of the year as I get to be a kid without being judged…too much. But obviously living in England which very often feels like the Antarctic, let’s be honest, my skin can suffer from all the winter weather. So I’ve been trying to stop the dry skin before it starts and get some new products into my skincare routine to help.

Winter Skincare essentials

YourGoodSkin Balancing Skin Concentrate

This little gem is Boots new brand that they have recently launched and I am so impressed. Not only with the quality of the product but also with price. At the moment it’s on promotion at £12.99 and normally would be £16.99 which is amazing for a serum at that size. Down the side it counts a 28 day skincare challenge and you are guaranteed to see and feel a difference after that. I definitely did so I will be repurchasing when it runs out. It’s really light and melts into the skin straight away and it doesn’t leave any unwanted shine or residue. I wear it under makeup and under other skincare products and it’s so lightweight you forget its there. It has definetly helped keep my skin hydrated and plumped at a super great price!

YourGoodSkin Soothing Lip Balm

I am always on the look out for a good lip balm and what a great find this was. I got it a little cheaper when it first came out and have just repurchased it at £4.99. Which I think is really reasonable considering what it does. For me this really hydrated my lips and kept them looking plumped and soft. There’s nothing particularly fancy about it but it does what it says on ‘the tin’.  It is also formulated without parabens & fragrance-free which sold me.

Facial Spray

Mario Badescu Facial Spray

So I have been obsessed with Mario’s facial sprays for about 6 months now and I have finally tried his other one. I usually use the one with Rose water which I rave about in a pevious post. This time I’ve tried the one with Aloe Vera, Cucumber and Green Tea. It includes natural antioxidants from the Green Tea, the Aloe Vera leaves skin calm and soothed and the Cucumber Hydrates. It literally does all those things and is so refreshing first thing in the morning. The smell alone is enough to get me to keep on buying so this will remain a staple in my routine for a while.

Avene Hydrance Optimale light

I’ve heard nothing but great things about this brand and after using their facial mist of the plane I thought I’d give them a whirl. At £13.50 it’s not breaking the bank so I didn’t feel to bad in treating myself. I did a bit of research before hand and found that all their products are formulated for sensitive skin which is a winner for me. Ive added this into my usual skincare routine to give more hydration and it’s definitely working. I’m using this before my other moisterizer and letting it sink in as it’s so light and it drys a little matte so I don’t have a shine overload. Overall it’s a lovely gentle product which is great for my skin.

L’Oreal aloe water

L’Oreal Paris Hydra Genius Moisteriser

I think this product is becoming a bit of classic in the beauty world. Not only is it like this gel/water that melts into your skin it only costs £9.99 for 70 ml. It instantly refreshes your skin so it’s amazing in the mornings and when you’ve taken all your makeup off after a long day. This has slotted into my routine so well and been that extra bit of reinvigoration my skin needed.

Temple Spa Windows of the Soul

This little beauty was a treat from my mum. *Thanks mum* A little bit more expensive than the others but for an eye cream pretty reasonable at £29.99. It is one of the best, if not the best eye cream I have used. And what sold this to me was when I saw my mum with it on one eye I could actually see this difference to the one that didn’t have it on. I have found that it really soothes my tired eyes and is making my dark circles less obvious. It definitely hydrates my eye area as I have noticed some of those fine lines going. I think I will have to buy this one for myself next time because I love it.
